Power Pony Soldier.png

Tyrone Power as Constable Duncan MacDonald in 1953 production of Pony Soldier. This film was one of several produced in the 1950s that portray a lone heroic Mountie single-handedly averting a war or uprising in Canada's west. Oddly even though the film was set in 1876 Canada all of the location filming was done in Sedona, Arizona.

An interesting detail that can be seen in this photograph was the use of Canadian General Service buttons on Power's tunic by the 20th Century Fox costume department. Small details like this while visible in this publicity photo would have been lost to the theater audiences.
