Trooper Sussex Yeomanry.png

This member of the Sussex Imperial Yeomanry was photographed sometime prior to 1908 since the unit's collar badge acquired a small scroll at its bottom after that date.

Members of Sussex Yeomanry served in the Anglo-Boer War as the 69th (Sussex) Company, Imperial Yeomanry in the 7th and 14th Battalions. Whether this man served in the war is open to conjecture.

When the regiment was re-designated the Sussex Imperial Yeomanry in 1901 they adopted khaki lancer style dress tunics with a blue plastrons and Dublin Fusiliers Blue facings. This uniform appears to being worn in this  photograph.
