Above: Filled with the sentimentality characteristic of the Victorian and Edwardian eras, this smaller glass plate negative depicts a private of the Black Watch (Royal Highlanders) playing with his young daughter. While he seemed comfortable enough in front of the camera the little girl appears to have been rather startled when the photographer took his shot.
