A private of the Royal Marine Light Infantry kitted out in his white tropical service uniform. The monochromatic effect being broken by the single conduct stripe on his left cuff.

 

One wonders if the dog was the soldier's pet or a live studio prop. Either way, the dog looks to have been surprised by the photographer's flash.
