A rare and singular photographic image of an unidentified private of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment taken in Dalhousie - a hill station town named after Lord Dalnousie. The local became something of a summer retreat and vacation spot for British civil servants and military personnel during the Raj.
Besides the decidedly non-regulation fedora style hat that this soldier sports the item that makes this cabinet photograph so unusual is the rifle that he chose to pose with - a small frame (.22 caliber) Colt Lightning slide action rifle. This rifle would normally be used for target shooting or hunting of the smallest game and can assume that this rifle and the hat reflect his possible past times while on leave in Dalhousie.
