An early view of a replica Viking ship. I can not be sure if the ship was in Washington when the photographer made this photograph or if he simply reproduced as a novelty from another source. Could it have been used in an early film? This ship was in fact used in the 1929 silent MGM film The Viking which starred Donald Crisp as Lief Ericson. The film was noted as being the first to be filmed entirely in Technicolor. This ship was used in various long shots of the film and is clearly recognizable by the unique dragon headed prow.
