A Canadian militiaman possibly a member of No. 4 Company, 28th Perth Battalion of Infantry. No. 4 Company was raised at Listowel, Ontario in 1866. The cabinet photo dates from c. 1880. The soldier is armed with a Snider-Enfield rifle and older-style buff leather cross belt equipment.
