Amos Pyne was born in Clementsvale, Annapolis, Nova Scotia on 9 July 1882 the son of Samuel Edwards Pyne and Abbie Christina Sanford.

Canadian militia records show Pyne serving with the 69th from at least as early as September 1899 and through September 1901.

Pyne immigrated to Lynn, Massachusetts on 20 October 1901 and was married to Lucinda M. Card on 7 July 1905 in Lynn, Massachusetts. At the time of his Petition for Naturalization in April 1917, he stated his occupation as an engineer. His Declaration of Intention states that he stood 5 feet 11 inches tall, had a dark complexion with brown eyes, black hair and weighed 175 pounds.

Although he registered for the U.S. draft in both World War One and World War Two - he was 59 years old by the time of the second war - he did not serve in either conflict.

In the 1930 Census for New Bedford, Massachusetts Pyne (here spelled "Pine") is shown still married and working as an engineer at a gas plant. No children are listed.

Amos Roy Pyne died in Plymouth, Massachusetts in October of 1979.
