|This image dates from around 1880 and depicts a young man who was by all appearances a cowhand. He wears well-worn boots, a wide brimmed hat and beneath his jacket and vest an
elaborately laced shield-front shirt. Given the time that it would have taken to lace up a shirt like this he probably did so in lieu of wearing a tie for the photograph. His hat is pushed
back on his head thus hiding the crown but it appears to be of the "Boss of the Plains" style. Additionally he holds a pair of well used roper gloves in his hand.
