Outfitted in civilian Highland dress this man wears four medals and by his looks and bearing appears to be a former officer. The medal on his left bears two clasps and appears to be the Queen's South Africa Medal, The next medal may be the 1902 Edward VII Coronation Medal. The card's reverse side bears an inscription that reads: "Xmas - 1911 To Mr. & Mrs C. W. Roberts" which is followed by another greeting which appears to have been written in a sort of Scottish brogue: "Tae greet ye wi' a' kind thought and best wishes for Xmas an' the comin year. WHB" At this point the identity of "WHB" remains a mystery. Real Photo Post card Unknown Photographer Unknown Location 1911 |
