William Sothern Dexter - Photographer
23 to 26 High Street
King's Lynn, Norfolk, England
c. 1880s

Appearing far too old to be a serving soldier, this distinguished old veteran was probably photographed to commemorate his service during the Crimean War. He wears the Crimean
Medal with a single clasp and the Turkish Crimean Medal. Interestingly this former corporal does not appear to be wearing his old uniform but a more up to date tunic, possibly of the
1877-81 pattern. The tunic buttons appear to bear the stringed bugle of the light infantry. Unfortunately this former corporal is unidentified.
