A veteran of the 1867-68 Abyssinian Campaign wearing the uniform of a sergeant in the Corps of Commissionaires. He proudly wears the distinctive campaign medal for that expedition under General Napier against King Theodore. The campaign was noted for the remarkably low casualty rate amongst the British troops with only 2 dead and 27 wounded.
