A somewhat dilapidated Carte de Visite of what appears to be a Russian Officer. He looks to be dressed for service in Central Asia. Could he be
one of the Russian's who caused the British so much concern in and around
Afghanistan in the late 1800s while playing the Great Game? At some
point in the carte's lifetime someone took the time to touch up the missing image of the photograph's lower right corner. It is possible that he was
a Cossack officer as he appears to be armed with a long curved
shashka on his hip and a shorter, straight bladed khanjali across his front.
