An excellent photographic study of a late 19th Century Indian Sepoy, this photograph unfortunately lacks enough fine detail
to identify the regimental badge on his cap. He wears a marksmanship badge on his left cuff and a single good conduct stripe
on his right. If the Indian Army followed the same regulations as the British then the Good Conduct stripe would have
changed over to the left cuff around 1881. This and the rather plain style of the CDV mount makes me date the image to the
1870s.
