Even though bearing a bold dedication and signature of its reverse side this officer remains unidentified due to the hard to read nature of his hand writing. It may read "Yours sincerely
J. Griffiths
" (shown below) but that is no more than a guess on my part. His rank appears to be that of Major and his button seem to be of the old style numbered regimental style but
are nor readable either.
I date the image to c. 1886 because the photographer used this specific back mark during that time period.
