Carte de Visite
Joseph Street Walker - Photographer
48 Wellington Street
Woolwich, England
c. 1890s

Very informally posed for the era, this interesting carte de visite appears to depict four "other ranks" who took a few minutes off from fatigue duty to have their group portrait taken.

The two young soldiers standing in back are both in their shitsleeves with those sleeves rolled up workman style. The two seated men look to be wearing fatigue frocks of differing
patterns. The slouching soldier seated at left also wears a type of stable belt around his waist. Interestingly all four men wear white foreign service helmets with pagris.

Jeweler/photographer Joseph Street Walker (yes, that really was his name) operated out of the 48 Wellington Street address between 1891 and 1901.
