Drummer R. H. Simmonds of the 7th Middlesex (London Scottish) Volunteer Rifle Corps. His drummer's badge is just visible on his right arm. This carte is not identified but Soldiers of the Queen Facebook group member Steven Broomfield has been able to attach a name to the photograph - Drummer R. H. "Simmie" Simmonds. Simmonds would serve some thirty years with the London Scottish before retiring in 1912. He would attain the rank of sergeant-drummer.
