the discharge parchment shown below is appears that the photograph does depict No. 2243 Corporal Henry Thomas Meacham of the 2nd Battalion, the Rifle Brigade. Born in 1853,
Meacham attested with the Rifle Brigade on 12 October, 1870. He served for 12 years, 11 days and saw action during the Ashanti War (1873-74) and was entitled to the Ashanti
Medal with the clasp "Coomassie". Meacham was discharged at Dublin on 15 April, 1884 and sadly passed away shortly afterward in 1885.
