An unidentified soldier dress for cold winter weather. The photographer produced an interesting "special effect"  
with the simulated snowfall created by spattering paint on the surface of the image probably by drawing his thumb
across a stiff brush that had been dipped in the paint. It is very probable that this soldier was a member of the 2nd
Battalion, the Duke of Wellington's West Riding Regiment which was stationed in Halifax during this time period.
