Very little regarding Frank “Frankie” Horace McEwan has come to light. The son of Horace McEwan – a station agent - and Ada Christine McKay, he was born on Prince
Edward Island on 6 July 1887. At some point after 1901 he may have moved to Red Deer, Alberta where a Frank H. McEwan (shown on the grave maker as having been born in
1887) died on 10 April 1906. (If this is the same Frank McEwan he was not yet twenty years old when he died.) The 1911 census for Prince Edward Island shows his family still
living there at that time but Frank is not enumerated with the rest of the family.

In this undated photograph Frankie is kitted out in a highland military uniform that may have been associated with a predecessor unit of the Prince Edward Island Highlanders
but this is uncertain.
